Juanita, known affectionately as Nita, represents the quiet resistance that persists in Eden despite Methuselah’s oppressive rule. A tree nymph with bark-like skin and striking auburn hair resembling autumn leaves, her physical appearance reflects the seasonal changes her kind embodies.
Unlike her more flamboyant partner, Arbol Greenleaf, Nita carries herself with a grounded seriousness that speaks to her deeper connection with Eden’s history and traditions.
During Lady Sequoia’s reign, Nita worked within the palace itself, giving her firsthand experience of Eden’s governance at its best. This perspective makes Methuselah’s corruption all the more painful for her to witness, as she remembers a time when Eden’s leadership prioritised the wellbeing of all Nature Spirits rather than extracting tributes to satisfy royal greed.
Nita’s underground home, which she shares with Arbol, serves as both literal and metaphorical sanctuary from the world above. The care she’s invested in creating this space—modest but comfortable, with genuine touches of hospitality—reveals her commitment to preserving small pockets of normalcy and warmth in a world that has grown increasingly cold.
While many of Eden’s inhabitants have learned to survive by forgetting the past, Nita actively maintains memories of “a time before Methuselah closed the portals to Eden,” as she describes it. These recollections aren’t merely nostalgic; they form the basis of her political perspective, fueling her quiet participation in the underground networks that maintain connections to Eden’s traditions.
