Arbol embodies the vibrant, free-spirited essence that once defined Eden’s culture before Methuselah’s oppressive rule. As a Mexican Sycamore tree nymph, he carries himself with the casual confidence of someone who finds joy in life’s simple pleasures, despite the challenges of Eden’s current political climate.
Distinguished by his bark-like skin, long green hair, and distinctive pointed ears, Arbol moves with an animated energy that matches his lively personality. His thick Mexican accent and tendency to pepper his speech with Spanish phrases.
Unlike many of Eden’s inhabitants who have grown sombre under Methuselah’s reign, Arbol maintains a party-loving demeanour that hearkens back to Eden’s more carefree days. He speaks fondly of times when marketplaces were filled with visitors from all walks of life, revealing a nostalgia for the openness that once characterised his homeland.
Arbol shares a small, underground home with his girlfriend Juanita (Nita), who balances his carefree attitude with a more grounded perspective. Their relationship reveals the depth beneath Arbol’s playful exterior—a capacity for loyalty and genuine connection that isn’t immediately obvious from his cavalier demeanour.
Despite his seemingly careless attitude, Arbol navigates Eden’s dangerous political landscape with surprising skill. He understands when to bend rules and when breaking them might result in consequences too severe to risk. This balance between rebellious spirit and practical survival instinct has allowed him to maintain some semblance of personal freedom in an increasingly restrictive environment.
His connection to Ben Harksmear hints at a more complex past than his current lifestyle might suggest. The two share a history that indicates Arbol once moved in different circles, perhaps even having connections to Eden’s governance before the current regime. Whatever their shared experiences, this relationship has created a foundation of trust that transcends their obvious personality differences.
While he presents himself as primarily concerned with his own comfort and entertainment, Arbol occasionally reveals glimpses of deeper principles—a fundamental belief in freedom that aligns him, however reluctantly, with those who remember and long for Eden’s better days under Lady Sequoia’s rule.
